Wistow doubles win! ๐
Wistow’s mixed doubles teams celebrate a successful 2024 season!
2024 turned out to be a phenomenal season for both of Wistow’s mixed doubles teams. Wistow 1 finished three wins clear of the competition at the top of the table of division 6 in the York and district Mixed Tennis league. Losing only 1 match all season, the title was secured with room to spare! The team lift the trophy for the 2024 season and move up to division 5 next year.
Wistow’s second team were almost as dominant in Division 10, picking up a stellar 12 wins from 14 matches played. The title race boiled down to a nail-biting finish on the last day of the season in an epic showdown with Selby. Wistow came agonisingly short of securing the title, just 2 games away from lifting the trophy! Still, Wistow 2 will take huge confidence moving into next season as they’re promoted to division 9, along with Selby, to continue their budding rivalry.
Wistow’s ladies team had a trickier time in Division 2 of the Fulford Ladies League. After some close encounters towards the end of the campaign, they’ll look to bounce back next season as they move down to division 3 next year.
