Bank holiday Monday saw the return of Wistow’s annual Pizza & Tennis Summer tournament, the highlight of the tennis calendar.

Now in it’s third year, the mixed doubles tournament was as popular as ever, with 24 players ready to take on the challenge. With 48 games in the main draw, players were eager to strut their stuff.

A few hours of action later the eight top-scoring players moved on to the semi-finals, with Rex & Sheighla taking on Ali & Chris, and Brian & Lucy facing Nick & Rachel.

The final match was a close encounter between Ali & Chris / Rachel & Nick. With the tantalising smell of food wafting though the air, Rachel & Nick held on through a tense tiebreaker to take the 2023 title and bag the winners chocolates.

The timely delivery of pizzas was duly gobbled up in record time, with home made cakes, salads, buns and pies on offer to reward the hard effort put in by all.
